Artistic Movements

Having had the opportunity to dance on top of the biggest Kasi in the galaxy I can surely proclaim that South Africa is alive with possibilities. We all need to be provided with a platform to Shyn and become the stars that we were crafted to become. Through the ages there has been one constant means of capturing our heritage, from the rock painting left by our fore fathers to the description of the freedom charter. Art is a universal language appreciated by most and understood by all who take the time to admire it.
Yet South African artists are still struggling to make ends meat. With their master pieces hanging on their backroom walls with only themselves and those of us infected with so much curiosity that we make it our business to have a glimpse at these powerful galleries. Its rather unfortunate though that driven by the price of art supplies and the need to put bread on the table they are forced to give away their hard work at less than a fraction of what they are worth.
It’s not surprising that some artists, especially those in the townships fall prey to social ills such as alcohol abuse, and then there are those that are not as unfortunate, absorbed into the labour force only to die a slow and painful death brought about by artistic suppression as a means to put food on the table.
Freedom in our lifetime means technology at our fingertips and the opportunity to reach the global market from the comfort of my living room. Freedom in our lifetime means communication as a basic human right used to add value to the lives of ordinary South African. Freedom in our lifetime means having access and information about the tools available to make marketing more efficient and affordable so that some time in this lifetime we can obtain economic freedom. Hence making sure that the masters concentrate on what they do best – “creating master pieces” and those who love to take the word out to do just that. As for us who love to do both, its time to use the keypad as a dance floor for our fingers and let the world know that the biggest Kasi in the galaxy is about to take its place and be noticed
